How to Plan a Whole-Home Custom Furniture Order

· TY Furniture Factory

A whole-home furniture order is easier to manage when every piece has its own reference and all rooms share one master list. Start with the room plan, connect each item to its design and materials, and track approvals separately. This guide covers movable furniture such as sofas, beds, tables, chairs and cabinets.

Build the list one room at a time

List what each room needs before choosing every finish. For a living room, that might be a sofa, lounge chairs, a coffee table and a cabinet. For a bedroom, start with the bed and the actual mattress size, then list any accompanying pieces you want to discuss.

Give each item a simple project reference, such as LR-01 for the living-room sofa. Keep this alongside the TY product code or your reference image. A room reference helps distinguish two versions of the same design intended for different spaces.

Use a consistent specification for every item

For each piece, record the room, reference, quantity, dimensions and measurement unit, selected material codes, drawing version and approval status. Add any delivery-access restrictions or assembly questions. Mark unknown details as pending instead of filling them with guesses.

For example, LR-01 could identify the living-room sofa while LR-02 identifies its matching lounge chair. The records should still have separate dimensions and material choices, even when the pieces share a visual theme.

Coordinate finishes without making everything identical

Choose the main material references for each room and compare them together. A shared wood tone or repeated metal finish can provide continuity, while upholstery choices can differ by item. Explain which matches are essential and where you are open to alternatives.

If the same material is required across several pieces, list its exact reference on every affected item and ask the factory to confirm sourcing. Do not rely on a general note such as “all furniture in the same beige.” Our remote material selection guide can help organize this stage.

Track approvals item by item

A room may be visually planned while some production details are still unresolved. Separate “design selected” from “drawing approved” and “material confirmed.” One approved chair should not be treated as approval for every piece in the order.

When you change a finish or size, update the master list and the related drawing together. If several people are involved, agree who sends the final consolidated confirmation to the factory. This reduces conflicting instructions from different message threads.

Discuss production and delivery as separate stages

TY Furniture Factory's usual production lead time is 25 to 45 days, depending on the products and quantity. Ask how the particular mix of items and outstanding approvals affects your project schedule. International transport and local delivery require additional planning.

Tell us whether you use your own freight forwarder or need help finding one. Ask about shipping the order together or any proposed separate shipments, including the implications for packaging and delivery coordination. Do not assume a requested move-in date is confirmed until the relevant stages have been discussed.

Request packing references that match the room list

Before packing is finalized, ask whether package labels and the packing list can reference your project item codes. For items shipped in several parts, ask how those parts will be identified and how assembly information will be supplied.

Keep the final order list, approved drawings and material records together. They provide a practical reference when reviewing production updates and checking the delivered pieces. For the initial enquiry, start with our quotation checklist and browse the furniture collection.

Send your design and questions so we can discuss the details for your project.
