Planning a Furniture Factory Visit in Dongguan: What to Ask

· TY Furniture Factory

A furniture factory visit is most useful when you arrive with specific designs and questions. Arrange the appointment first, prepare a short project brief, and use the visit to clarify materials, production approvals and quality checks. You do not need to finalize every choice during the meeting.

Arrange the appointment around your project

TY Furniture Factory welcomes buyer visits in Dongguan by arrangement. Contact us with your preferred date, the number of visitors and the types of furniture you want to discuss. Confirm the meeting details privately before travelling.

Explain whether you are considering a single piece, furnishing a home or planning a larger order. If there are particular materials or designs you hope to see, mention them in advance. What is available to view depends on the current showroom selection and production schedule.

Bring a focused design brief

Prepare reference photos or TY product codes, approximate dimensions, quantities and your delivery country. A room plan is useful when the furniture must fit an existing layout. Mark the design features that matter to you instead of relying on a large collection of unlabelled screenshots.

Keep unresolved questions visible. For example: whether a chair can use a different base, whether a sofa can be made in sections, or which fabric options suit your intended use. Our quotation checklist provides a starting point.

Use the showroom to compare details

Look closely at shape, proportions and finishing, and ask which details can be customized. If you try a seat, describe what you like about its support, depth and height. A showroom piece is a reference for discussion; confirm which specification will apply to your own order.

When comparing materials, record the sample codes and the furniture items they relate to. Ask about care instructions and any specific performance requirements you have. Take photographs only where permitted and keep the identifiers with them.

Ask how your design becomes a production drawing

Discuss what information the designer needs and how revisions will be approved. Ask to understand the approval sequence rather than assuming a reference image is a complete manufacturing instruction. Dimensions, orientation, materials and visible details should all have a clear place in the final record.

At TY, the process includes a production drawing for customer approval. Single-piece orders use CAD design approval; a sample for a bulk order can be arranged according to the agreed requirements. Clarify which steps apply to your project and what remains pending after the visit.

Connect factory observations to your order

Where the visit includes production areas, ask how the work you see relates to the furniture you are considering. Useful questions cover material selection, construction stages, quality checks and how corrections are handled. A production line may be making someone else's design that day.

Also discuss packing options and the information available before shipment. If you do not have a freight forwarder, ask about help finding one. If you have your own, explain the planned handover so responsibilities can be discussed clearly.

If you cannot travel, ask about a video appointment

Contact the team to ask whether a live video discussion can be arranged for the pieces or samples you want to review. Share a short agenda and your time zone. Availability and what can be shown should be confirmed before treating the appointment as booked.

A call can help clarify visual details, but it cannot let you feel a fabric or personally test a seat. Ask about physical samples or other ways to resolve the decisions that remain open.

Leave with a written next-step list

Record the shortlisted designs, material references, changes requested and questions still awaiting confirmation. Agree what information each side will provide next. Keep your visit notes separate from a final production approval unless the relevant specifications have actually been confirmed.
