Choosing a Freight Forwarder for Furniture from China
· TY Furniture Factory
Describe the shipment honestly
Tell a prospective forwarder the pickup area, destination, number of pieces, packed dimensions and whether the items contain fragile surfaces. Say if the shipment is a single piece or a larger order. An estimate based on an unboxed sofa photograph is less useful than one based on the final packing list.
Ask what service is included
Clarify pickup, export handling, international transport, customs support, destination delivery and unpacking separately. The term door-to-door can mean different things in different quotations. Ask who pays duties, taxes and destination charges and which parts remain your responsibility.
Check the paperwork and handover
Confirm what commercial invoice, packing list and other documents are required for the specific route. Ask who prepares each document and when the factory should release the goods. Import requirements vary by destination, so get route-specific advice from the forwarder or qualified local adviser rather than assuming one rule applies everywhere.
Coordinate the factory and forwarder
Share the forwarder's collection details with the factory only after the scope is agreed. TY can work with a buyer's chosen forwarder or help a new buyer find one; the forwarder should explain the import and delivery process in writing. Keep both parties copied on the package count and handover date.
